Abstract: »With the assumption that all human beings are sexual, discussions of sexual violence against women by men in history lead deniers to claim that it was inevitable, because sexuality is innate. For example, this is the case with those who refuse to acknowledge the “comfort women,” who were sexually enslaved by the imperial Japanese military during World War II. But was it really inevitable? This paper will propose how including asexuality in the study of history can help fight against historical amnesia and evaders of colonial responsibility, by using Japan, formerly an empire, as a case study« (Source: Online Program)
